It's only gonna get hotter and hotter. Here at Shiki we're turning up the heat with this year's Shiki Summer Heat Photo Contest!

The rules are simple. Styling can be done in any way you like as long as the main piece you wear is Shiki. Second, the photo must reflect this year's slogan "Summer Heat".

Points that the photo will be judged on are as follows:
* Interpretation, a clear connection and execution to this year's "Summer Heat" slogan.
* Styling
* Artistic approach and visual aesthetics of the picture

Urban Symmetry Collection

I love creating patterns out of random things. I seem to be able to find beauty in simple things all around me. Today I wanted to share some of my favorite textures that I created with my design partner Vinn Wong. It was his idea that we create textures out of things unappreciated. So one day, we went for a long walk with camera in hand, taking pictures of random things. I tried really hard to find things that were unappreciated and I found myself drawn to things such as soda cans, wire fences and dead leaves. I felt like I was a big failure because I felt unoriginal and uninspired. With Vinn's help, we came up with a nice collection of textures. This is how the latest collection Urban Symmetry was born.

Here are two outfits created from these new textures.

We created textures out of things we found on the street. These were inspired by soda pop cans and barbed wire fences. Here are the textures that became the base of the outfits shown above. 

 

I also created some real life products for my store on zazzle. Please check them out if you have time. The picture below shows one of my real life products using the texture you see above.

 I love how I can incorporate my designs into so many different things. I loved working on this collection and a big thank you goes out to Vinn Wong for inspiring me in the first place.

Shiki at Fashion Week

Shiki proudly debuted its spring-summer 2013 Collection at Avenue's Fashion Week today. 

18 looks were shown at today's show and it was exciting to say the least. This collection, entitled Urban Symmetry, was created in collaboration with Vinn Wong, RL artist and friend of Shiki designer Shinichi Mathy. 

This is the second time Shinichi has partnered with Vinn Wong on a collection. Urban Symmetry is all about clean lines and architectural elements. Influeced by things that people normally don't appreciate, Urban Symmetry takes these things to create objects of beauty.

 We'd like to thank Avenue and their fabulous models for putting on a great show and organizing a great fashion week. Also a big thank you for all the guests who attended the show.

All 18 outfits can be purchased at Avenue's Retail Area for the duration of the event. The outfits are not currently sold at Shiki's Main Store until official launch of the collection.
